About PropertyFacts

PropertyFacts exists because Australian property is saturated with content produced by people paid to make you transact, and almost none produced by people paid to make you understand. We are the second kind: a small research desk that reports what the data shows and cites its sources.

Editorial stance

We are neither a property bull nor a bear. We are anti-certainty and pro-mechanism. We publish general information and education only. We do not tell readers to buy, sell, wait or borrow, and we do not forecast — we report others' forecasts with attribution and explain what would have to be true for them to hold.

Who writes it

PropertyFacts is edited by Michael Gentry, a Sydney mortgage broker, and written by him and the desk. The publisher is named in the footer of every page. No article recommends a credit provider, and the site carries no lender promotions in its editorial. How advertising works is set out on the Advertising policy page.

The firewall

There is a hard separation between the publication and any credit service. A page that promoted a broking service inside its reporting would become credit advertising and would stop being what makes PropertyFacts useful. Advertising is labelled and kept out of the editorial; the editorial never sells anything.
