Advertising policy
PropertyFacts is funded by clearly labelled advertising placements, not by telling readers what to do. Advertising never appears inside editorial judgement, and it never changes what a guide or article says.
Labelling
Every placement is labelled Advertisement and is visually separated from editorial content. Advertiser copy is the advertiser's responsibility and, where it concerns financial products or services, is subject to the relevant advertising rules (including ASIC RG 234 principles). Here is how a labelled placement appears on the site:
Who advertises here
Two kinds of placement run on the site. Some are for Gentry Finance, the mortgage-broking business of our publisher, and say so. The rest advertise a category of service that readers of a property publication actually use: conveyancing, building and pest inspection, depreciation schedules, property management, buyers agents, and asset and equipment finance. Those are unbranded: a headline, a line, a button.
No advertiser buys coverage in our editorial. What we cover, and what we conclude, is not for sale.
What happens when you answer an ad
A Gentry Finance ad takes you to gentryfinance.com.au. A category ad takes you to an enquiry page on this site, which tells you, above the form, exactly what will happen with what you send: which enquiries Gentry Finance follows up, and which the editor answers personally with an introduction offered rather than made automatically. Where Gentry cannot arrange a product itself, the page says so and says that you will be introduced to a specialist and told who. No enquiry is passed to anyone without you being told who first. The privacy policy covers the rest.
Sponsored articles
We do not currently publish sponsored articles. If that changes, every paid article will carry a SPONSORED label above its headline, name the company that paid for it, and say plainly that it was produced to their brief, before you read a word of it. Paid links inside it will be marked as paid. We will not publish a paid article that reads as though it were our own reporting.
What we don't do
We don't run advertising disguised as editorial, we don't let advertisers influence the sources or conclusions of an article, we don't quote interest rates in advertising, and no article on this site recommends a credit provider, including our publisher's.
